Licensing
Meno has two license levels: a user license that controls collaboration features, and a project license that controls per-project limits like pages, CMS collections, locales, and branches.
User License
Your user license is tied to your account. It determines which project plans you can access and whether you can join organizations.
User Plan | Price | Project Access | Join Orgs |
|---|---|---|---|
Free | $0 | Free projects only | No |
Pro | $9/mo | All project plans | Yes |
Free users can create unlimited projects but can only work on projects with the Free plan. Pro users can access projects on any plan.
Project License
Each project has its own plan that determines its limits. Project licenses are independent of your user license.
Project Plan | CMS Collections | Pages | Locales | Branches |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Free | 1 | 5 | 1 | 1 |
Lite | 5 | 100 | 2 | 2 |
Business | 25 | 1,000 | 5 | 5 |
Enterprise | Unlimited | Unlimited | Unlimited | Unlimited |
You can activate a project license in a project's settings by entering a license key. The key is stored in project.config.json.
How the Two Levels Work Together
Your user license controls which projects you can open. The project license controls what you can do inside that project.
A Free user can only work on Free projects.
A Pro user can work on projects with any plan (Free, Lite, Business, Enterprise).
Viewing Your License
The License badge is in the top-right header. If you are already subscribed, click it to see Manage Subscription, which takes you to the Polar portal where you can access and manage your existing subscription.
Activating a License
If you don't have a license, a green button appears in the header. Click it to open the Activate modal.
Click Get One to be redirected to the Meno pricing page.
Select a plan (e.g., Pro), enter your credit card number and email, then click Subscribe Now to receive your license key.
Go back to Meno Studio, paste the license key, and click Activate.
Activating a Project License
To activate a license for a specific project, click the three dots on the project card and select Upgrade. If you have exceeded the page limit, editing will be disabled and you will see the Activate License prompt.
Per-project activation works exactly the same way as the user license. Click Get One to be redirected to Polar, where you can select a Free, Lite, Business, or Enterprise project license.
License Validation
Meno validates your license online every 7 days
If you go offline, there is a 30-day grace period before the license is suspended
A warning appears when the grace period is close to expiring
Organization Licenses
Organizations can have their own project licenses (typically Business or Enterprise). When you work on a project inside an org, the org's project plan applies.
To join an organization, you need a Pro user license. Free users cannot join organizations. See Organizations for details.
